Description:
A full-bleed color event ad for promoting a fundraiser using a scanner and Microsoft Word only.
Process:
I found an image from Central America taken by Barbara Arroyo, I thought it fit well for this event and used Word to expand its proportion. I used teal colored boxes along and colored stripes to add interaction and contrast. The stripes were also a way that I was able to include repetition. I chose a font for my title that does not have serifs to give it a modern feeling. Something that surprised me were the design features of Microsoft Word, there were many features that I did not know about which were awesome to learn about and utilize. Programs I used: Microsoft Word, Epson Scanner, PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter).
Message:
I am involved with a fundraiser to help raise money for individuals in Guatemala. I wanted my audience to have their attention caught by my flyer and want to learn more about this event.
Audience:
Individuals who enjoys running, walking, scootering, or are looking to support a good cause.
Top thing learned:
I learned how to use design elements of Microsoft Word in more in depth.

Scanned images used, sources, original sizes:
This image was scanned from the July/August 2015 Arqueológica Las culturas de Guatemala magazine. The image was originally 8 3⁄8” x 10 7⁄8”. I scanned the image at 300 resolution in order for it to look presentable when enlarged. The image final scan size was 1183” x 1800”.
Thiis is awesome. Your South American theme is very apparent. Your typography brings the whole thing together really well too. It’s very professional. Also, I think it’s cool that you used InDesign’s QR code feature. It makes me wonder what will happen if I scan it haha.
